It seems like everyone wants to lose weight these days. But if you're like me, you dont have time to hit the gym, or maybe you just don't know what to do. And eating a salad without dressing is no fun while everyone around you is enjoying a nice juicy steak. And don't forget those pricey supplements that promise 50 POUNDS IN JUST 30 DAYS! ... We all know that never happens. So what do you do?
Let me preface by saying, my ideal weight is 120lb. On the body mass index (BMI) I would be an 18.8. You can see an example of a BMI Chart as seen on cover photo- I suggest using this calculator as the index varies based on your age/sex/height. Or use this to get a custom BMI chart for yourself. Anyhow, since the birth of our son, I am now sitting at 25.5, which is considered overweight by 0.5. And I have already lost 10lb in the last month- imagine where I was before!!
*Side note: I finished this blog post over the course of 2 days, and lost 2LBS OVERNIGHT using method 3! I am now 24.9, on the edge of "normal".*
In my past, I have tried everything. Sacred Heart Soup Diet- Unsatisfying and only short term, with very little results. Exercise- I was exhausted 10 minutes in and always gave up. Anorexia- unhealthy. Diet pills- useless. The list goes on and on. So what is the secret? How did I finally start shedding pounds?
Let me tell you, I use a variety of methods. What I'm about to tell you is my top 3 methods. That is, the only 3 things that have ever worked. And none of them require a crazy diet- you can eat whatever you like!
Method 1: My Fitness Pal (Food Option)
This is the app responsible for the 10lb I have lost in the last month.
This app is available for both Apple and Android. You can go hardcore and use it to it's fullest extent- but that's not me. You can even get a paid version that goes deep into the world of macro-nutrients. No thanks.
To use this app, I simply enter my food/drinks, and stay under my personalized calorie limit. You can also input recipes for home cooked meals to make sure you're getting the right amount of calories for each day.
The downside to this app is that they do not calculate calories burned on strength exercises, only on cardio. However, I don't bother putting in activities unless I need more calories for a big meal (can anyone say Burger King???). In that case, I stick to simple things such as walking/running, or my favourite which is snow shoveling. (Side note, snow shoveling is a quick and easy way to burn calories, and you get your driveway clean while you are at it!).
I dont worry about clocking in my water intake, however, I like recording my weight so that I can watch my progress!
Method 2: BodBot (Fitness Option)
This app worked for me a year and a half ago, as I didn't have much weight to lose, and only needed to shed a few stubborn pounds.
This is another great app with both free and paid options. And Just like My Fitness Pal, I only use the free option. What is great about this app is that even with the free version, you can customize everything to suit your lifestyle. You start with a basic quiz that asks about your goals, what equipment you have (if any), how many days a week you wish to work out, and how many minutes per week you would like in total. You can then rearrange the minutes to fit your schedule on a day-by-day basis. Oh, and when you do your workout, if you come across an exercise you cant/wont do, you can always select an alternative or opt out of that specific activity forever.
Method 3: ECA Stack (Pill Option)
This is the magic behind the loss of 20 stubborn pounds (the last few are always the hardest), just 3 years ago. And also how I lost 2lb OVERNIGHT last night!!
This method is my favourite because it is so easy, you can eat whatever you want, you don't have to exercise, it's just effortless! The ECA stack is a combination of pills; ephedrine, caffeine and aspirin. I recently recalled the last time I used these and rushed to my local health food store to find it. Ephedrine speeds up your metabolism, and is the power punch in this trio. Caffeine and Aspirin can be found at Wal-Mart and are only boosters, so they are technically optional, but will help you greatly.
*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS METHOD CAN BE DANGEROUS AS THE SIDE EFFECTS CAN VARY. Please consult your doctor before trying... Or be a **** like me and just start out slow to make sure your body can handle it. This is not for the faint of heart (literally).*
When this method popped back into my mind yesterday, I started out with 3x8mg of ephedrine and 1x200mg of caffeine. I decided not to use Aspirin (mostly because I forgot to grab it), however it does prolong the effects so I may add it in later as my weight-loss plateaus.
The recommended amount is 25mg of ephedrine, 200mg of caffeine, and 80mg of aspirin, 3 times a day. I think that's pretty crazy. Because I'm currently already using Method 1, and aspirin prolongs the effects, I only take it once a day. But like I said, I might adjust when my weight-loss plateaus by adding in the aspirin or taking it more than once a day.
I took my first dose yesterday at noon, and by the next morning I had jumped down from 25.5 on the BMI scale to 24.9. I am no longer overweight! I would like to add though, that I dont expect to lose 2lb daily. The first week of a diet can bring shocking results, but the loss will level out after that.
One more thing to note is that the ECA stack is very dehydrating, so be sure you up your water intake. I never drank a drop of water before this, at most maybe one cup per month. The EC stack has me drinking a minimum of 3 cups per day, which is a huge improvement for me.
DISCLAIMER: These results and methods are that of my personal practice and opinion. Don't take it as professional advice, always consult your doctor, yada yada yada. Have fun, stay healthy, stay safe.
